12/28 Codfishing…Island Current III…Coxes LedgeCaptain Scott called in to report a picky day of cod fishing for a good turn out of anglers. The first few drifts in the morning were productive but had to stop drifting because it became too windy and the drift was too fast. We then made several drops on anchor and each of the drops produced some codfish. We then decided to steam to the south where we found some decent Seabass and porgies. Some highlights of today’s action was high hook Mike Ninedroper leading the way with 6 cod, Eric & Matt from Captree, NY had a combined 11 fish. There were several anglers who had limited out on the black Seabass and some guys also had as many as 15 porgies each.
Today we made the best of the conditions that we were given and although it was a slow grind some anglers faired better than others.
We will be sailing tomorrow morning, Thursday, December 29 at 5 AM for cod and Seabass. There is plenty of room so feel free to just come on down and pay aboard the boat.
