2/4 Early Morning Cod Bite aboard Island Current III…Snug Harbor, RIToday we departed earlier and was the first boat on the grounds. Once the anchors tightened it was game on. There were lots of double headers and the action was fast. However, once Mother Nature opened her eyes wide the bite had shut down. We were cracking fresh skimmers all day and chumming heavily but the bite was turned off. Capt. Scott tried a variety of drops where he has been producing great catches for the past week but at best in the late afternoon it was a sprinkling of cod. There was an abundance of herring in the area.
