This morning it was cold and breezy as the ISLAND CURRENT EXPRES slipped away from its Snug Harbor Marina berth. We had a decent crowd of anglers from NY, RI, CT, and MA. The fishing was much improved today as anglers had steady action most of the morning and tough the early part of the afternoon. As the afternoon progressed the bite slowed down. Overall, it was a good day of winter codfishing as high hook was Matt from NY with 9 keeper cod. Pool fish was 12 pounds. Today anglers saw cod coming up on both jigs as well as skimmer clams. There was also a very nice by-catch of ling and there was several large concentrations of bait in the area. The herring have moved in and the codfish were nice and green.
