Sunday, 1/8 COD on the ROD
Today, 1/8/12 the 76` ISLAND CURRENT III left SNUG HARBOR on a picture perf day with warm temps and calm seas. Ca. Scott was at the helm and reported much steadier action than yesterday and there was a noticle size diiference in larger cod caught on the grounds today. Ca. Scott reported several drifts that were very good, and steady action was seen tougho the day. By days end there were a half dozen fish in the 12-15 pound class and pool fish went 2o pounds. There were several limits reached today and a few guys very close to Limiting O.
The 50` ISLAND CURRENT II was o with Tom O. from CT. The IC2 was working a different area and managed to p a resple catch together late in the 9th. The catch consisted on nice, fat green cod and ocean cunners.
Since the bite has been mostly during the day, we will continue to sail at 5 AM until we feel an early departure time will be more productive.
