Today, 1/20 the ISLAND CURRENT III sailed with a light crowd of anglers for some very good codfishing. Ca. James reported that the morning bite was very good b consisted of a lot of tow back fish. Upon his second drop of the day the boat landed on larger cod and it was a total bait bite. The boat anchored up and had a SOLID bite the rest of the day. Pool fish was 15 pounds.
Some notle catches included Jason Graham from Brooklyn, NY with 22 keepers, only retaining his limit, along with Anthony Reyes from Sheepshead Bay, NY catching 16 keepers only retaining his limit. There were quite a few limits reached and some were very close to their limit all going home with good catches of winter cod.
On today`s trip there was also a nice by-catch of pot-bellied ling. Ca. James did mention the tremoundous amount of herring in the area.
