January 22, Capt Scott reports a good day on the local Cod grounds. The much intisapaited snow storm seemed to scare a alot of anglers away this morning so we set off with a lite crew of Cod enthusiast. When we arrived on the grounds it was slow pick of Cod only yielding a few fish on each drift. We decided to switch gears and go on the hunt looking in some of the old areas and it paid off. High hook was Mark from Mass who boxed 9 fresh green Cod, Larry from Conn did great catching 7keepers . Everyone managed some quality keepers to bring home for the dinner plate. There was a decent amount of short Cod that were released to swim another day. We did seem to run into quite a few “grey ghosts” today as they were mixed in with the Cod. Jigs were the ticket today out fishing the bait , there was so much bait in the area that on one drift one angler was able to fill a 5gallon pail with mackerel & herring. The next couple days looks like storm will be upon us. Please call the office for the next scheduled trip.
