Saturday, 2/25 Codfishing Aboard Island Current III…Snug Harbor, RIToday Captain Scott reported a tremendous sold out boat of codfish enthusiast. Despite the Pea soup fog conditions the weather was wonderful. We arrived in the area where we had crushed them the day before but as with any fishing each day is much different. The morning bite was very slow despite the precise anchoring and heavy crushing of skimmer clams the codfish did not want to cooperate.
As in true island current fashion, Captain Scott decided to do some exploring further to the south. Although it was not a grand-slam, it was still nonetheless a pick where some anglers were able to make the day. Some notable catches for today’s excursion included Dave and Laurie from Irish jig charters out of Rhode Island combined with seven, Mitch and his party from Brooklyn scored best at 17 cod, and Edoardo from the Bronx took home the pool with a 19 pounder.
