Island Current Thursday March 31 Report

Capt. Scott reported an absolute amazing day of spring Codfishing that could only be described as EPIC. He said that it was “by far the best trip of Codfishing in years!”
Double headers were pretty much the norm as it was lock-n-load from start to finish. Capt. Scott sent along some insane reading of fish piled up and on the feed.
We had a full boat limit of codfish by 9 am and we’re headed back to the barn hours early. A lot of conservationist played the catch and release game only retaining their limits.
We had a very nice crowd of anglers that were extremely happy with the phenomenal fishing.
Some notable catches of the day included capt. Rob & Chris from Brooklyn with 39 keepers, Sean Endres from CT and his group of three all easily limited out, flacko & his cousins from the Bronx has 43 keepers, peter ray from CT had 21, pat o brien had 23 keepers, & pool fish went to mike p.from Brooklyn took home the cash with a 13 pounder.

Cod/Rhode Island Update:

Captain Scott had an amazing day on Saturday with a full boat limit. We hope to get out this Wednesday to get back on the grounds!

It is important this time of year to make sure you make your reservations in advance thru our ticketing company or by calling capt Chris directly.

Island Current Saturday March 26 Report

Capt. Scott reported a phenomenal day of spring Codfishing aboard the ISLAND CURRENT III. Capt. Scott reported a full boat limit as anglers were arm weary and headed back to the barn early with a full boat limit of fresh juicy codfish. 
Here are some of the highlights of today’s epic codfish Safari…

Sean Endres from ct took with a cod just shy of the 20 pound mark. Sean had 22 keepers (orl). We had Wayne Pinder from NJ leading the hi hook department with 24 keepers (orl). Then we had Erik & his wife who we loaded up with their limit of cod.
Capt. Scott was ecstatic at the piles of bait and massive reading of codfish. It didn’t matter today as the cod were eating everything jigs & bait. There were at least 50 double headers today. 
We are not sailing Easter Sunday and would like to wish all of our friends and families a happy Easter.
We will resume sailing Monday at 5 am. Please remember it is very important to make a reservation to ensure that we have enough fares to sail.

Current Island Friday March 25 Update

Capt Scott looks forward to heading out aboard the 76′ ISLAND CURRENT III this Saturday 3/26 at 5 am. Reservations are a MUST to ensure that we have enough fares to sail. 
The fishing has been very good with limits or very close to limits for everyone. The boat is stocked with fresh bait and we look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

Island Current Saturday March 19 Report

Captain Scott March 19th reports it was another great day of codfishing. A light group of anglers traded in there corned beef and cabbage for some fresh cod fish. We ended up Heading back to the same area where we found a pile Cod last week and we were pleasantly surprised to find some hungry cod. With a few anglers up towards the 10 keeper Cod mark. high hook honors went to Jim Rinaldi group of 3 from Trumbull CT with 26 keepers. Todays pool fish honors went to Nick from Braircliff Manor NY with a 15lb Cod. All anglers went home with lots of tasty fillets for big dinners to come. There was also Lots of shorts in the mix keeping anglers busy all day long. Please call the office to schedule you next trip   
    
   

 

Island Current March 17 Report

Captain Scott March 17th, reported a slow day on the cod grounds. The pile of fish we have been working on had thinned out resorting to a slow pick, There were quite a few shorts in the mix but the keepers ratio was way off. pool wish was 13 pounds caught by lou from NJ. Next trip will be Saturday, please call the office if your thinking about coming down. The boat leaves sharply at 5am.  
Capt. Scott will be taking the 76′ ISLAND CURRENT III out this Saturday at 5 am. We already have enough people to sail. The weather looks great before the approaching storm scheduled to arrive Sunday evening.

Island Current III Update Wednesday March 16

The ISLAND CURRENT III is looking to sail this Thursday at 5 am if we get enough people to get off the dock.
There has been plenty of room. We did get out Saturday and the fishing was excellent and Sunday the bite was picky. 
All the fish were caught on fresh skimmers. If you prefer to pay cash on board just text captain Chris your name, date of attendance, and number of people.

Island Current III Saturday March 12

Boat limit COD.. March madness Island Current III Captain Scott March 12th reports perfect weather and unbelievable fishing. From the first drift in the morning to the last drift rods were bent all day. We worked a tight body of fish all day and before you know it was time to blow 3 horns signaling a early day with a boat limit of COD Highlights of the trip, Mike aka (Ninedroper) from CT was high hook with 23 keepers (orl) long time regulars Keith & Mary from NY combined with 36 keepers (orl) The fishing couldn’t had got much better today with double headers being the norm, the bite was savage all day, as they were furiously feeding on fresh skimmers today. Weather tomorrow looks great we will be ready to sail at 5am
