ISLAND CURRENT III & ISLAND CURRENT II GOOD CODFISHING
Today, 1/12/13 Ca. Scott left Snug Harbor Marina oard the 76` ISLAND CURRENT III with a decent crowd of codfish anglers. The weather forecast was not as nice as originally forecasted; however, that did not stop the very good codfish bite. The size of the fish were really nice and they were fat green cod. Pool fish today was in the upper teens. Ca. Scott mentioned that because of the lumpy conditions the boat was at anchor and the fresh clam chum was critical. There were several anglers that had their limit and most anglers had between 6 to 8 nice codfish apiece. In addition to the wonderful codfishing their was also some pollock and ling coming up as a treated by-catch.
The 50` ISLAND CURRENT II had an excellent trip today as it was “One Stop Shopping.” First mate Luca was working the gaff most of the day and some local Rhode Islanders p a very impressive catch together. Hi-Hook honors went to Andy L., David K., & Jim B., with a combined catch of 47 cod (ORL). Another impressive catch was done by the father and son team of David & Lee K., from Croton NY. Our vessels are fully STOCKED with fresh skimmer clams & chum!!!!
The next few days looks like the weather is finally going to break as both of the vessels will be ready to sail at 5 am for winter cod. We have plenty of room on the open boat oard the 76` ISLAND CURRENT III with no crowding and our limited load boat the 50` ISLAND CURRENT II has plenty of room the next two days.
