Today, 2/15 both of the ISLAND CURRENT FLEET boats were o on the COD grounds. With unbelievele weather in the 50`s and very good codfishing, an enthusiatic group of anglers showed up in full force.
Ca. Brendan was at the helm oard the LIMITED LOAD trip on the ISLAND CURRENT II. A group of 13 anglers managed to pick away at the fish most of the day with the results ending up very good. The cod would bite would come in shots as the cod were responding to the fresh clams disbursted on the grounds. High hook was 10 keepers caught by Charles B. from Charlestown, RI.
Ca. James was the skipper of the 76` ISLAND CURRENT III who had a good crowd of codfisherman oard. Ca. James reported a very good bite for the first 1 1/2 in the morning and then things tapered off to a slow pick and even a few flurries tougho the afternoon. Some highlights of today`s open boat trip included Calvin N., from CT with 7 keepers and the pool fish weighing in at 12 pounds, Glen G., from CT had 9 keepers, Mark M., from NJ also had 9 keepers, and Wally, Bob, Trevor, & Todd from CT combined with 17 amoung their group. Overall a picture perf day on the water with good codfishing and calm seas.
