Today we had both the 50` ISLAND CURRENT II & 76` ISLAND CURRENT III o on the codfish grounds. The ISLAND CURRENT III had a healthy crowd of codfish enthusiast and the ISLAND CURRENT II was charter o privately from our friends at “On the Water Magazine.” The weather was very nice today with a soherly roll and warm temperatures.
The fishing today was definitely off from our past two trips. The Island Current III had Joe from Belmar, NJ running the hi-hook honors with 9 cod and his buddy Hunter from NJ catching 6 keeper cod. Ca. James mentioned that they worked a lot of ground today b was a pick most of the day. There was a very good undance of by-catch ling chewing on the fresh skimmers. Some nice size pollock also made their way over the rail.
Ca. Scott who was oard the 50` ISLAND CURRENT II`s private charter commented that it was a steady slow pick most of the day. The quailty of the fish were there with several fish in the 20 pound class. Both boats chummed heavily today with fresh skimmer clams. As on any trip some guys caught better than others.
We are NOT sailing Wed. due to the gale wind advisory and high seas. We will be monitoring the weather updates and look forward to getting back o as soon as possible.
The ISLAND CURRENT FLEET is fully stocked with the freshest skimmer clams and plenty of shell bait to keep the cod under the boat.
